“ Popped in for a quick cup of coffee on a rainy day. Found myself in one of the smaller outlets of the franchise which made it quite congested. The industrial sized ACs were on full blast and I would have frozen had not a table become vacant away from the AC. The South Indian food as usual, was delicious, even if expensive for vegetarian fare. I was asked if I would like a paan along with the bill, said yes, and find it was not complimentary when the bill came:-) Apparently, there's s bigger outlet in the same market, and the kitchen is common. That's one for the next trip ”
“ Excellent service excellent food! A standing institution of South Indian food in Delhi. But this is the best sagar out of all the rest. Fresh tasty and delicious. Highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for South Indian cuisine. The issue is the market it self. Noisy and hardly any parking. But if you can find a spot none better! I had the masala dosa and vadas. Incredible! ”
“ Great food, authentic South Indian dishes. ”
“ I went this evening alone to eat dosa. As soon as I entered, I was told by the person inside, to occupy a corner table just because I was just one individual eating! This irked me but I complied. Hence, I have reduced one star for service. The chap who waited on me though gave good service and brought the items ordered promptly. Also, the place is quite cramped and the handwash area is inside a room filled with the waiters and one has to make their way through this maze of waiters! The food was yummy albeit expensive. ”
“ A simple, and perfect place to grab a light and healthy meal. We went here for lunch on a weekday and were treated with wonderful service. They were kind and accommodative. The seating is also good and comfortable. The food is very well priced , and everything is made fresh. We really enjoyed the Rava onion masala dosas , paneer dosa and the filter coffee was very strong and perfect . The madras idli fries were crisp and flavourful. Overall a great lunch! ”
“ It's been 15 years since I've had breakfast here and the taste and quality is exactly as I remember it. Very tasty and flavorful. Perfect size portions, with a few new accompaniments. Service is quick, efficient and polite as always. Highly recommended coming when you are in the area. If you liked my review please give me a thumbs up to let me know! “ Back in 1986, Sagar Ratna dropped its first branch in Delhi’s Defence Colony. Fast-forward almost 40 years, and they’ve multiplied across India like hot dosas on a tawa. Even today, there’s still a queue outside—proof that the hype is real. They’re all about Udupi/Karnataka-style vegetarian food, but on my latest visit, I noticed the menu’s had a glow-up. Think Thatte Idli (the thick, plate-sized idli that’s trending all over India), specials like porotta, idiappam, set dosa, and even some funky fusion dosas. Our lunch lineup? Mini idlis dunked in sambar, a masala dosa, and poori sabji. The masala dosa was basically 10/10 chef’s kiss. The potato sabji, sambar, and chutneys—especially that peanut chutney—were peak Kannadiga flavor. The poori set comes with potato sabji, vegetable kuruma, and sambar—five fluffy pooris that are perfect to share. Oh, and we threw in an appalam for that crispy crunch. Props to them for seriously upping their sambar and chutney game. And the service? Lightning fast and super attentive. If you’re anywhere near Defence Colony and craving fresh, hot, legit South Indian food—Sagar Ratna is still the spot. ”
“ I have been visiting here for the past 6 years. Have always had the best south Indian food. Authentic taste. Very good quality food. Staff is courteous and cordial. Apt for family or friends. Parking is also not much difficult here. Highly recommended! Do give it a try. ”
